What is really the minimum internet speed in mbps to play xbox live with without lagging? I know my internet through dsl is too shitty to play with but if i bought a prepaid phone with truely unlimited data that doesnt drop from 4g after too much data usage would something like that work when set up with a mobile hotspot? My friend plays d2 with it and ping runs about 55

I play on dsl as well, it's one of a few shitty options where I live. There's fiber 1 mile away so hopefully it changes soon and comes my way.

My connection is 8mb down, .75mb up and I play on xbl without lag or problems. Played both with strict and moderate/open NAT after forwarding ports, and it seems fine. My ping on rocket league is usually 25-30ms, so not too bad. What's your connection like and pings? Dsl is iffy.

E: how fast would your stable 4g connection be? Providers differ, my cell carrier is about 10mb down 2 up.

My dsl is uber shitty 1.5 mbps and very unstable its down more than up. Thats why i was asking about 4g. I had a radiowave internet with 1.5 mbps played fine on 360 but idk about xbox one.

I would say about 10 Mbps. With an Open NAT this speed gives 4bar connections on games that display them (BF4, COD).

I used to have 7 Mbps DSL when I lived in PA because it was the only thing avail. Was forever stuck at 3 bars in those days.

I now have 75 Mbps, so all is good.

Satellite or hotspot wifi has more packet loss. Have a friend with satellite internet. Open NAT not always achievable and sometimes hard to connect to other players.

I shit you not my internet speed down is like 1mbps and up is .75 mbps last time I did the speed test online.

My Nat type is moderate and I play on xbl pretty alright given my internet speed. I only lag when I get put in a game with people out of the country. I mainly play gears of war ultimate and on the west coast servers a lot of playsers there are from Central America. I played the division online fine, very minor lag

A lot of those prepaid phones that offer unlimited data is generally x amount of gigs high speed and then they slow you down so you might me right back to where you started.

Know any friends that have t-mobile that could let you test it for an hour or so? Might give you an idea of how the service/reception is at your house before you are locked into a contract that doesn't help much.
