ptsd is a serious mental health condition that many soldiers have.
They are, in fact, more likely to murder than the average citizen. These people deserve help, as does anybody who would mass murder.
However, it is hard to find murderers before they become murderers and especially hard to give people help when people ignore the issues because they take emotional offense.

This is the sad truth. I wonder if it is related to the fact that we squash the feelings of men as part of our culture of masculinity. Seems like something that could turn them into killers.

usually men are less empathetic at their core and not as social as women

they also respond to things like embarrassment or shame more aggressively

combine that all with a bunch of testosterone and other societal pressures and obligations and you're bound to get more male violence
