So a lot of anime seems to have these incredibly long, dragged out storylines that just get me lost after a while. This problem doesn't affect me for shows with real-life actors (like Game of Thrones) but for the most part, any anime that goes on past 26 episodes is just too long for me. I used to watch DragonBall when I was younger and liked it, and I remember loving InuYasha (which I remember was also pretty long though I never finished it or remember a conclusion).
I have always liked anime MOVIES more than actual series stuff, but after living in Japan now for over 5 years and being flooded with the stuff, I just lost interest over the years. I just recently started watching some stuff again and am trying to get back into my anime groove. I re-watched Samurai Champloo recently and it was greatttt. So does anyone here have some suggestions for shorter anime that are really good? Some of the things I have liked to give you a sense of my taste are;
Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Detroit Metal City
Spriggan
Slayers (This was kind of long now that I think about it too, but also forever ago)
Paranoia Agent
Paprika
Perfect Blue
Jin-Roh
Sorcerer Hunters
Golden Boy
Angel's Egg
I like either serious/heavy stuff or things that are completely off-the-wall batshit crazy. I don't really dig romance things or stuff involving middle school and highschool kids usually, though I do remember liking ToraDora in an extremely rare case. I don't mind them being old either. I actually really love the aesthetic of older style anime.
So I come to you, anime peeps, because I know you have better suggestions than my students here in Japan who all give me the same few answers of Attack on Titan, HaiKyuu, One Piece, and LoveLive.
Thanks!
