...if removing the child from the home is required it should be done ...whether it's permanent or not depends on multiple factors that go beyond just physical health .

Definitely! I think too, so much of this topic comes down to a case-by-case basis. Certainly there's a starting point that we don't compromise, which is that we won't allow children to die due to their parents' religious beliefs, but that everything beyond that should be tailored to the situation, child, and family.

I'm sure we could cut out any circumcision prosecution

I'd say so, yeah. This topic does have implications beyond faith healing though, but I don't think circumcision is quite one of them. Like I said in the OP, I do think a lot of the arguments used regarding being anti-faith healing also apply to people who don't get their children vaccinated (for religious reasons or otherwise).

Obviously religion is to blame!

More serious note. Parents should be prosecuted. No excuses.

vaccines are tough because I don't think they should be able to endanger other children which requires some sort of home schooling which could harm the child's education etc etc etc

I really don't have as solid of a stance with that as I do with the op

Well, the girl is white, so I assume these parents were Christian.

I wonder what scripture they cite to explain why they don't believe in medical treatment.

mormons or jehovah witness; the blood is sacred
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah%27s_Witnesses_and_blood_transfusions
in french version they give the scripts:
Genèse 9 : 5 ; Lévitique 17 : 13, 14 ; Actes 15 : 28, 29 ; et Actes 21 : 25.

surgery not allowed (except if someone give me and example of surgery not involving a blood interaction)

I agree. Although I don't currently know what such an intervention would look like. Does the State come in and remove the child permanently from the family? Temporarily until the medical condition is addressed? Threaten them legally unless their child gets adequate medical attention?

What do you think?

Child Protective Services takes the kid and creates an avenue for the parents to get care back if they can get it together. If they can't an adoption plan should be made.

The only problem is people not reporting this abuse. Any doctor, nurse, social worker, police officer, teacher, or other mandatory reporter who knew about this should go ahead and be charged with that misdemeanor.

I don't know about suing over past child abuse. I generally look down at litigiousness.

It's all subjective interpretation.

Looks like they have about the same scriptural knowledge of some of the atheists on this forum.
