If there is a market there will be those attempting to feed it. Jail people and the dynamic just changes. Politicians won't actively endorse the materials they'll just elude to them. Look at the state od PAC's and you can see how a lobby for the energy industry can spread the same bile without politician endorsement. Unless you're suggesting going after the lobbyist industry, which on a topic such as climate change IMO is tantamount too suppression of free speech and suppression of scientific experiments. Even if these people are wrong they serve a purpose scientifically, their studies can be studied in turn to show flawed research techniques and flawed sampling.

Honestly, I think so. I know it sounds extreme, but misleading lawmakers and the american people just so your company, or the company that hired you as a scientist, can make more money at the expensive of our shared environment is pretty sinister.

But being able to prove that someone deliberately was misleading sounds impossible.

Of course not. we have freedom of speech and it should be protected.

If you think someone is wrong you disprove them with facts and convince people otherwise.
It should not be illegal to voice unpopular opinions and facts even when butthurt liberals want to ban dissent.

The regressives want to go back to the times where controversial scientists and philosophers were persecuted and executed for heresy.
Only permitting government approved facts, theories and discussion and putting people in jail for wrongthink is something right out of a 1984 novel.

Fraud is a thoughtcrime, how dare you lock someone up just for making false claims in order to bilk the elderly out of their pensions?
