A long while back, I had presented a story about getting the 28 classified pages of the 9/11 commission report declassified, including a link to change.org, which rather predictably went nowhere. Well, things are now changing on this front. The US Senate moved a bill out of the judiciary committee in January that would effectively eliminate Saudi sovereign immunity in US courts, thus opening them up to massive liability if the process of discovery paints a trail to Riyadh. 60 Minutes did a new segment on the 28 pages last Sunday and the movement has started picking up some steam on Capitol Hill to the point that Saudi Arabia appears to have hit the panic button by threatening to liquidate an estimated $750 billion in treasuries and securities if the Senate bill passes.

...we need Saudi Arabia as an ally and we need their oil and their influence over of its price...leave it classified and prosecute those who are leaking what they swore never to do under penalty of law .

So what you're also saying, whether you intend to or not, is that we need to fuel radical Wahhabism and maintain an extremely expensive and perpetual war footing. The zerohedge article goes on to point out how hollow the Saudi threat actually is, because their own currency is pegged to the dollar and also how difficult it would actually be to liquidate on such a scale. Given our own expanded capabilities to produce oil, we no longer need them so much as people think we do.

...what I am saying is what I posted...Saudi Arabia is a critical ally in a region where they are hard to come by and as long as crude oil is needed by the planet they must remain our ally . Your foreboding about being in a perpetual war footing is wasted...we have been at the brink of the next world war ever since the end of the last one and that is never going to change ...ever .

Saudi Arabia is taking advantage of that fact and needs to be taught a lesson, the next bombing run on a neighboring country should "miss" and land "elsewhere"

Yeah Widow I'm with Santara on this one. If you're opposed to global terrorist syndicates then there is no defense for our relationship with the Saudis. With "allies" like them you don't need enemies. I await the day they run out of oil and succumb to diabetic ketoacidosis.
