Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, a staunch opponent of abortion, made at least $83,000 serving on the board of directors of Merck & Co. at a time when the pharmaceutical company was producing vaccines using fetal stem cell lines derived from aborted fetuses, according to corporate documents reviewed by Al Jazeera America. The program “Inside Story” with Ray Suarez also obtained documents indicating that during Fiorina’s tenure on the board, anti-abortion groups had asked Merck to stop producing such vaccines, and that the company had refused.

You know somebody has been sitting on this awhile to Herman Cain this woman.

Is it even necessary? Any buzz she had died down completely. I forgot she was still running.

yawn.

Merck is a 125 year old company with their fingers in so many health, vaccines and other related r&d pies it is unlikely anyone on the board knows all the facets of development. Even if She did know about it, abortion and stem cell research is a legal practice in the USA. A board member does not have unilateral power to change company position regardless. She was there all of two years.

iVnnedge provided “Inside Story” with a copy of a letter dated November 2000, in which a Merck representative acknowledges the group’s complaints and defends its vaccines.

According to the Merck letter, “human diploid cell lines, which are approved and maintained by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under strict federal guidelines, originated from two legal abortions in the United Kingdom and Sweden in the 1960s. These abortions were not undertaken with the intent of producing vaccines.”

The stem-cell lines in use today are used primarily in Merck’s MMR and MMRV vaccines, the only measles, mumps and rubella vaccines in the United States.

Vinnedge said she believes Fiorina might not have been aware that Merck’s vaccines utilized stem-cell lines derived from aborted fetuses, but said, “if she’s stridently pro-life and against Planned Parenthood, she would not be in favor. She would not want to be on the board of a company that was doing that.”

Not at all surprising, can't expect her to put too much effort into checking things out given that she supported and promoted those fake planned parenthood videos.
Even more amusing that the grand jury ruled in favor of planned parenthood and are now charging the anti abortion group that made those fake videos.

isnt that a sad state of affairs that the gender card gets played by the opposition if you speak out against the shitty policies of Hillary.
I dont believe your claim is true, but if it is, that speaks worse about the dems then repubs.

Uh huh. Because that's totally been used this entire election. Owait....

It doesn't get pulled almost ever when Hillary is attacked. But anything to defend the "freedom loving" party amiright?

For Christ sakes we had years of Benghazi and that wasn't the dems defense. It's the same tactic Fox uses when they hire a black person to condemn the black community. It allows them to feign credibility to the uninformed.
