i been taking my photos in raw format so i can do some editting on them in the future but i tried to share the pictures to my family but they cant open due to .nef files

whats the best way of converting them to another universal file without destroying the quality?

It won't destroy the quality, just save as a jpeg so you can share with them. However if you're sharing on facebook, the highest quality way to share them is sizing them at 2480px width and saving as .png.

when you export from lightroom or whichever program you use, it will export it in jpeg.
