I do specifically want noise cancellation. Seems it would be better to purchase two pairs of headphones one for noise cancellation and one for audio quality... and glue them together... <_<

Active noise cancelation destroys audio quality because it is simply using an external microphone to detect "some" (not all) noises and then it plays the exact opposite through the speaker, thus canceling it, but it means the headphones are doing 2x the work....

Like NewKid said, get a pair with really good noise isolation, big over ear cups with a good seal and closed backs, you will get 1000% better quality in a $200-300 pair

What I'm getting from this is that I really should get two pairs of headphones... one for the bus, studying, etc (QC25), and one for actually listening to music.

Most noise canceling headphones wont even cancel out all noises, some voice pitches wont be canceled, most airplane or bus noises wont be canceled out, that's why noise isolation (where you have over the ear cuffs with a good seal) works better for the most part

The QC25's are amazing as far as noise cancellation goes. They come with a defective 3.5mm audio wire (not a big deal since it's replaceable, but still a nuisance). The noise cancellation is insanely good on them.

I decided against headphones altogether for now. I only have to take the bus for another month. I do like them while I study, nicer than wearing earplugs, and better than just muffling noise. As far as good headphones go, I do have a DAC/amp combo, but I'll wait until something really tempting comes around. Problem is I have a $2000 audio setup ($650 speakers, $650 DAC, $650 amp, and $100 cables which were probably a placebo purchase), so anything I get I end up comparing to my speakers.
