I played Runescape for about 8 years, I'm not sure of its current state. I've played guild wars 1 and got into 2 recently (45 days in only). My opinion after playing both games (literally just talked about this in a hot tub with a friend): Guild wars and Runescape are both EXTREMELY grind heavy games. Guild wars will have a lot less afkability, but it won't make you chop a vine on Castle wars for 200 hours (5 full-time weeks) to get 99 woodcutting or some other meaningless bullshit. It took me 11 days to get to the highest level in guild wars. It took me about 2 years to get to the highest levels in runescape (126, then 138). Runescape wasted HUGE amounts of my life on low graphics, grind with no interaction (click click --> make x, chop this, mine this). Guild wars has all the meaningless interaction, but they're not going to require tons of training to get to the end of the game. Also you don't need to train mining or woodcutting. just fucking do it man, just chop and mine what you want and give ZERO fucks. There's like 6 meaningful crafting skills in guild wars and 2 meaningless ones (fuck u artificooking boooolshit). But I did all 500 crafts in like... 2-3 weeks in guild wars two. That means I'm at end level content for almost everything in guild wars 2 in under 2 months - that took me 4-5 years in runescape.
tl;dr both games are the same old mmobooolshit and you should play gw2 because you can get endgame in 200 hours not 200,000,000 jillion days
But guild wars is also a waste of time so optimally, play neither. good day.
of course i do agree with you but its alot better than watching the same old crap over and over again on tv
even better than just staring off into space lol
