I'll save the back story and just get right to it.
I was asking numerous people where I should go to buy myself a bible.
A co-worker said he would get me one for free. And he did.
It's the New World Translation and he went on to say that it's the most accurately translated bible for modern English, ect...
I've been going to a college 20+ worship/study since December, go to 3 different bible studies a week and read on my own.
I recently started studying with my co-worker, a Jehovah Witness.
He has opened my eyes 10x more than any other bible study group has done.
He always suggest me not to believe anything unless it's stated in the bible (and to research and to pray/mediate/ect...) and he doesn't answer any question I have without giving me scripture. (ie: isn't giving me his own take on my questions)
As I was doing some research after Sunday service today I've seen a lot of great reviews about the NWT/Jehovah Witness Translation and also a lot of negatives.
Now I feel like I'm doing more research into which bible is most valid rather than reading and growing in Christ.
I know each verse of the bible differs in some translations and how the 16th century KJV had 15 extra books added into which were removed throughout it's 4 revisions.
Just feeling lost after I thought I was on the right path for myself.

Went and met with my Pastor.
He took the NWT and wouldn't give it back.
So I guess that is the end of it.

He gave me another one for the time being.
He said was going to get me a new one.

You can read the King James, there's nothing wrong with it necessarily, although I find its format and verbiage difficult to read and understand sometimes. The New King James is pretty good, but I'd recommend an ESV bible. It is a good mix of readable and accurate. The NIV is ok, it's very easy to understand while remaining relatively accurate, but if you're looking for the best (that is most accurate) translations I'd suggest ESV or NASB, the NRSV and HCSB are pretty good too.

Has me thinking I should get a KJV.
However, as I continue the research of the ESV is seems to be.
(as long as I also research what I read in the ESV and get the same verse meaning.)

1 John 5:7 in the KJV
7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

ESV
7For there are three that testify: 8the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.

that is a major difference thta's not just "making it easier to read" which making it easier to understand is a bad argument since

1 corinthians 2:14
14The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

so when people say they cant't understand KJV it makes me believe they think they can understand the things of God without the Holy Spirit
