Why pre-1955 you may ask? Because during the mid 50s there was a major shift in popular American music. Doo-Wop, Pop, and Rock & Roll where born - I've heard plenty of those "oldies" already (1955-1970). I'm really interested discovering more music that came out before then.
Remasters or re-recordings are ok, as long as it's the original artist and the song came out before 1955.

Yes.
Perhaps my remasters or re-recordings stipulation was confusing. I meant that I didn't want post-1955 cover versions posted (Examples: Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, etc). If its a post-1955 recording, it should be a re-do of a pre-1955 version by the same artist, but not necessarily the original songwriter or first known version.
