make sure to always state your JSP name in-game and have a record of your trade show up in all chat.
Take lots of screenshots and make sure you keep a text record of the trade. Use the in-game mail feature if necessary.
When getting sent gold via in-game mail, always make sure to attach a note saying how much gold you're receiving and how much FG is supposed to be sent.

If you get scammed, make sure to notify Arenanet. In some occassions, they can backtrace the scammer and lock his account.

true. if there's screenshots of all this information, it'll make somebody who is thinking of scamming you seriously think twice.

lots of people forget to do all of this, then if they get scammed, they have no proof. it sucks. trade safe

If you trade with someone just make sure they've been around this site for a year or two at least.

Anyone with 20-50% warnings - avoid those. 10% "can happen", but if you're a well behaved member you're not likely to get a warning % on d2jsp.
After that, id say just be realistic, if a trade seems too good to be true - it usually is.
Keep chat logs, and so on - if anyone doesn't pay up you can report them here, but backtracking any proof of scams will be hard other than that.

Just keep in mind that if someone scams you once,. theyll scam someone else as well - those reports add up and can get them locked.

Just request a mediator, they aren't going to scam the mediator
