in what other plane do you exist? Sanders is not getting wrecked. he's riding a tidal wave that will turn into a tsunami.

A tidal wave, bit of an exaggeration. Have you seen the polls?

Bernie isn't even in shouting distance.

Help them and white working families, agreed.

If he can get elected over and over again and succeed in a libertarian state then he is something special.

There has recently been a burst of activity at the University of Burlington library where tight-mouthed interns are scanning everything single document from the Sanders mayoral years. People are thinking they are Clinton and Sanders interns, because there seems to be quiet suspicion among them.

I think that the state of affairs is forming that Sanders is becoming a serious contender, and I think it surprised both Clinton and Sanders.

I think you're confusing Vermont and New Hampshire.

Racism isn't talking about race, it's treating people differently because of it. If Companies and people are saying "Racism is a myth" on one side of their mouth - but data paints a very different picture - then its probably best that people with forked tongues are identified, how else can you make an informed opinion by only listening to half the facts or by only hearing what you already want to?

I used to be in favor of stuff like this, but my views have changed sharply as I've thought more about it. I fear data mining and other invasive technologies could lead to a complete destruction of society, and that's not hyperbole. Especially as technological capacity increases, the risks grow exponentially (bionanotechnology being perhaps the biggest threat... it promises to allow complete governmental control of our bodies and minds on the molecular level).

I know it sounds like I'm overreacting, but I think we are radically underestimating just how serious of a vulnerability data mining sets us up for and what kind of threats could exploit it.

you should take your meds, and if you aren't on any you should get a doctor to prescribe some

Typical, see something you've never heard of and disregard it. Bionanotechnology is a grave long-term technological threat. It's maybe thousands of years away, but it's something that needs to be prepared for early.

you're reading too many sci fi books - it won't be here in our life time, why worry?

That world is still science fiction, we aren't anywhere near achieving it. Tell me when we've got a transplant that lets blind people see in full detail, then do the same thing for every part of the brain and we'll be there.

the precedent for large scale data collection is grim, there's always a good reason to be against it. this seems relatively targeted though

I'm not into sci-fi.

That last part of the sentence seriously bothers me though....

True. I was just giving an extreme example for the fun of it. Data mining still opens the doors for exploitation with technology that is already here or just around the corner, though. And I think as a whole we're seriously underestimating the risks.

Though regardless of the intent of the original miners, the data could anyways be sold or stolen.
