I don't think there is any reason you should connect religion to meditation. You can simply think of it as an exercise of concentration with proven cognitive and health benefits.
I think there are becase i want to believe. In most cases it definitely might fuck up the meditation alltogether but coming from nihilistic agnostic background i think this is my way. silly of me to generalize ofc
