4 life and connecting with the divinity

So far just been meditation as an act of being
Like the air, thoughts and feelings come and go, they don't stick to air
Focused meditation might get me psychotic
What are your methods, thoughts and preferences?

There is no religiosity in my meditation. I sit and focus on the breathe. The mind wanders, and I bring attention back to the breathe. Pretty simple.

That sounds like a masochistic practice though that can be religious too :)

I used to meditate more regularly. I mostly do "living meditation" nowadays, i.e. just being mindful throughout my day. My time has become to valuable to spend sitting, though it taught me to be mindful more effortlessly.

Spending more time being mindful (i.e. aware, lucid, paying attention to your unfiltered experience) of your mind in your daily life can be very life-transforming. Most people are on auto-pilot most of their life.

A very important distinction is between mindfulness and concentration. Mindfulness is more important. Read more here: http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma4/mpe14.html

That is an excerpt from Mindfulness in Plain English which is IMO the best book on meditation ever written. It's a purely practical book that is written with incredibly clarity and succinctness. Even if you've read other books on meditation, you should still read this one.

If I were to make a list of the 50 books everyone must read, it would be on the list without question. It's one of the most life-changing books I've ever read.

The entire book is available online for free here: http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma4/mpe1-4.html

Highly, highly recommended.

You haven't told me anything. The "talk bullshit and claim it's wisdom" speak doesn't work on this forum.

Do you have anything to say?

I've read Mindfulness in Plain English, it was definitely a good book. It reaffirmed my idea of meditation that I learned from Eckhart Tolle... which is that religiosity is only a distraction in meditation.
