I am wondering what this lens mounts to - specifically Nikon. I know it works for canon - reason I ask is because someone I know has a Nikon and I no longer want this lens.

I know nothing of Nikon cameras - dpreview says it mounts to a Nikon F (FX) - is that most Nikon cameras, or is it quite limited?

Any help would be appreciated !

It comes in different kinds of mounts. If you have a Canon mount version, it will work on Canon cameras. If you have a Nikon mount version, it will work on Nikon cameras. It might require a screw-drive motor, meaning the camera will have to have an autofocus motor built in (otherwise the autofocus will not work). I'm not sure about this lens.

It's a pretty shitty lens though, you could buy something better for very little.

If it mounts to Nikon F-mount FX, then it will work on any current FX or DX camera... but again, it might not autofocus properly.

keh.com

check that site
you can get a better kit lens than that specifically for the type of camera you want

As for the mount question

Whichever body you own is the type of mount you want to get

Canon crops sensor can use any lens, EF and EF-S

Canon full frame can't use EF-S

Nikon F is probably the same as Canon EF as in it is the Universal Nikon mount.

It should fit any Nikon DSLR. If you have a specific camera in mind post it and we can help you

the one I have mounts to ef-s/Ef canons. I used it on mine. It's quite an old lens! But maybe someone will have fun with it.
I will find out what Nikon camera it is and post when I know.

Nikon D600 - is the camera.

Lens mount
Nikon F mount (with AF coupling and AF contacts)

So it would work with the tamron? I am unsure of what AF coupling and AF contacts are - maybe that's the part where it would have to be a manual focus?

AF stands for autofocusing and its simply stating that you can use Auto focusing lenses with that camera.
