The engrams won't do shit. Will still roll with pre dlc gear. The coding in the engrams will be different and won't drop new dlc shit when cryptarched

Doing the new raid makes plenty of sense. An opportunity at getting hunger of Crota or black hammer is invaluable

Go ask everybody who tried it when the first DLC dropped and found out it didn't work. The packages from before the DLC releases are different items than the packages from after the DLC and will not work the way you think. The only benefit would be advancing Cryptarch rank for new packages.
