Update as of 5/2/2015







The reason the one cake has mushrooms coming right now is because they started forming during consolidation period in the jar. I thought the myclium would eat the mushroom but the mushrooms ended up winning.

I do however have a ton of knots and pins. Hoping for around 2 ounces cracker dry.

My next project will be growing morels. I plan to make/purchase an indoor greenhouse to produce the morels. This current project is to get my hands wet.

Morels sell for about $200 to $500 a pound. I'll be trying to produce roughly 20-25 lbs a week.

However I have so much to learn still. Just bought some agar to try isolating now.

Edit: I'm also now looking for young morels. I need to clone some tissue on same agar!

Some very nice pin sets and clusters forming today. I forgot to take pics but will update later with some.

I woke up 2 hours early today so I was checking info on other mushrooms. I believe I'm going to try some pink oyster mushrooms and morel at the same time. I hear they taste like bacon when cooked

Just going to set my first attempt at cultivating mushrooms was a huge success. I'm coming up towards 28grams, dried from 2 1/2 cakes. Now I'll post some pics of my grow log for you all to enjoy

To grow mushrooms, cleanliness is #1 most important factor. Everything needs to be done perfectly for mushrooms to grow! This was probably a way better learning experience then anything in High School ever taught me!
