I have been smashing through code academy but would like a book to read on my way to & from uni
I have tried to pick by looking at amazon reviews but most of em seem fake..

No prior programming experience at all so something aimed at beginners is cool

Any ideas?

You can't really read a book and just "get it". You need to work along side the material for any of it to sink in.

I can write you a book on assembler but none of it would make sense until you start modifying and working through the examples.

Yea textbooks really suck for learning languages, I don't think I've ever read a textbook for a language.

There are far better resources online for the most part, and learning languages is all about using them not reading about them

I bought a book thinking it was cyberpunk, and i keep reading, waiting for the cyberpunk to enter the plot. 2/3 of the way through i realized it was steampunk, not cyberpunk. fml. i never heard of that before, which isnt surprising considering how retarded it was.

I took Python in college and got a 4.0
What are your goals with Python? Without a goal you don't know where to start.
In programming you have an A and a D but you have to figure out how to skip B and C to get to D. D is destination I'll let you fill in the blanks.
