People here have way more money than me

I thought I was doing okay.

I'm right around the third option...but all my money is emergency money pretty much. Wifey and I are both taking a lot of classes so we aren't earning as much as we could be, and a lot of our money is just surplus loan money after tuition, books, rent, food, vehicles, etc are paid off, plus whatever we're bringing in at the time...nothing astronomical.

I do at least 20 hours of unpaid social work per week. My wife makes a ton of money on computer repairs though, and she is dominant around her peers in terms of talent and skill. She is way smarter than me, she has 3.9something GPA in a STEM discipline and can calculate all kinds of weird shit, then write a program to make it easy for people like me to do what she does without help. I was just simply not aware of how important hardware and software programming was until she shared her vision of technology with me.

Regardless we're very happy, we are working hard, the fruits of which have been uninterrupted upward mobility, we both look forward to earning a nice income and both are already doing better than our parents. We have two biological children, that is enough of them, and we are going to adopt as our incomes and assets grow. I personally would like 5 or 6 kids to set loose on the world and hope for a really really great one.

But if shit hit the fan all the money I have is emergency money, and I could probably find a great deal more if I had to ever ask for help, god forbid. I personally would feel a great deal of shame in asking for help.

No real emergency fund but i can sell the '67 Camaro or the house in portugal if it comes to it. I'm not great at saving money - better at acquiring stuff.

I'm sure assets can count also, if you were really in a tight spot, by all means sell the stuf thats taking up space to survive :)

In the sweet spot between 2k and 5k.

Not really an emergency fund, because it'll go bye bye soon.

I keep about 500-1k for emergencies but I have very little in expenditures so it should be enough.

You can easily point out the liberals as they don't save anything, even with their own money, they are impulsive and short sighted.
