Well, anything you consider "emergency fund" if the shyt hit the fan........

So, does credit count? I mean, just about everyone has a credit card with at least a couple thousand.

3 months of pay is 30 k for you.....?????? Are you scarface or something?

I'm a contractor software dev, I make 12-13k most months (unless vacation or sick or something). It's not THAT much, I'm actually around average for my line of work. Most guys I'm working with right now make more.

If you wana count that sure, although you carrying such a large sum on a card would proly piss off the company and they might cancel it tbh.... happened to a friend once....

we have quite a bit saved as gold And we also try to also have a couple steers close to prime selling time even though the market fluctuates we have very little besides the initial cost of the calves $175.00-$200.00 for Angus bottle calves. They can become liquid cash very fast, and bring a handy return.

One thing homeowners do have is the equity that they have built up in their home, in a pinch a small personal loan with a familiar bank using that equity is possible with a much lower rate than a credit card and with much more forgiving payments.

In the sweet spot between 2k and 5k.

Not really an emergency fund, because it'll go bye bye soon.

Currently about 4k, my wife and I only pull in about 2200 a month, sometimes less. I'd like to get higher but when I get too much I usually end up making a big payment on her student loans.

Yeah the homeowners point is a good one. I have a lot of equity in my home, plenty in my 401k/IRA accounts, but about $10k liquid cash in the bank.
