The only people who need privacy are the ones with something to hide. Privacy isn't worth American lives.

Wouldn't agree with that. The problem with Snowden is that he has released a ton of documents unnecessarily. You can reveal to the American public that they are be being spied on without also revealing a bunch of other classified information for no reason.

Great interview. The programs are terrible. Do the right thing and fix them.

National security is important but under this umbrella statement a lot of things are being done that really have no relevance to it. Some of these programs are not even meant to look for terrorists per se but rather just collect information on everyone. Social media has done more to destroy privacy than any tool that the government has created. An analyst can look at your facebook and build a profile of you based on your friends, posts, likes combine that with your credit card bill and a few other parcels of info and you can predict pretty well what someone might do. Also recently i read an article where it basically talked about that tech manufacturers have created back doors for things like smart phones and these agencies have these.

From a nationalistic perspective this does give us a leg up and i think it is important to continue to develop more sophisticated technologies to be able for example counteract Chinas influence, but to administer this collation in the domestic realm in my opinion is kind of a waste of resources for national security reasons.

How have your lives and behaviors changed due to Snowden's leak? I have zero expectation of privacy when I communicate with people outside of my home and neither should you.

Yes we should know the extent and limit it.
This isnt England or the DPRK

Allowing the government to secretly do whatever they want and infinitely invade our privacy simply because they mention "national security" is irresponsible and unamerican.

Just because our foreign policy has often conisted of making things easier for terrorists, it doesn't mean that doing the opposite would be unamerican.
