I recently got scammed by someone and I had no idea that they were already a "known scammer" because I don't frequently go on that section and I don't play that game too much.

My suggestion is that if someone is already an accused scammer, like someone has already made a thread about them on the S/A section, then they should have a mark or flair, similar to "locked" etc.

This way, people like me who don't know the "known scammers" can be more cautious of trading these kinds of people.

On steam if someone is reported for hacking/scamming then when you open a trade with them a window pops up and says "This person has been reporting multiple times for scamming" etc.

Anyways, just thought this could help a lot of people out.

I don't see this happening.

The scammer and locked tags are already a fairly effective system.

The only reason I say no is because I can see people being malicious and filing false reports just to label someone as a scammer.

This kind of idea has been suggested in different ways and denied multiple times.
Exemples:
- http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=72446959&f=258 - A link with SA topics where the person is being accused
- http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=70444638&f=258 - Red Asterisk close to his account name

If you don't want to worry about the possibility to be scammed request a Mediator and avoid Illegal Trades.
Not needed.

No for above stated reasons. Was gonna type it out, but it's covered.

Do you think it's a good idea?

Not that I don't think it's a good idea. It's well thought out, but it wouldn't be added for above reasons.

Yeah the scammer/locked tags are good when they have actually been fully charged with being guilty, but that takes awhile... and during the middle of the time the scammer could go around and try to get as much as he can before he gets the locked/scammer tag.

This is far too exploitable and unreliable to be of much use, I fear. Besides, I really feel as though it's the trader's job to research trades and traders before making any sort of transaction. Use the 2/3 rule and buy high-value items only from reputable users with solid histories (or avoid low-risk items / jobs entirely), and you'll pretty much never have problems.

I completely understand this, which would help in almost all cases, except for the ones where the person goes on your account. If they have none or little fg, they have nothing to lose.

Yeah it is probably too exploitable. I have only been scammed once in my years in d2jsp and it was because it was a service that required them to go on my account. I guess maybe instead of them receiving a mark automatically from receiving a thread in S/A about them it could be applied to their account by a moderator if there is enough evidence for a "undergoing investigation" mark or something.

I just feel something like this could help out a lot of people, and I appreciate all of your responses.
