I think you are making an assumption about this article...

But Correlation does = Correlation

Exactly.

It's not saying that religion causes people to be more vengeful, more nationalistic, more militaristic, more authoritarian and less tolerant. But rather that people who posses these qualities tend to identify with religious ideology...hence the correlation found in the study.

Doesn't mean their methodology on this study was good or that this data is worth anything.

Tell me more about there methodology ? I guess you made some research before making a statement.

Considering the study is on families... I wouldn't necessarily say direct causation but definitely some kind of a causal link. The way religious indoctrination forms a young mind leaves it open to dogmatic, unyielding and totalitarian ideologies and beliefs. Also there have been other studies that show a distinct lack of being able to tell fantasy from reality in children raised in religious households compared to those raised in secular ones.

Any study worth it's weight would discuss it's methodology. This one doesn't. It's fluff, absolute nonsense like most crap about religion or ideology

In college, being secular is fitting in. What's not fitting in is being religious and being vocal about it, especially in philosophy/sociology classes. :D

I dunno, I'd say my campus was pretty damn near 50/50 and we were like 60+% engineers.

The news article isn't actually the study. I'm pretty sure if you looked up the actual study you would find that they do discuss their methodology.

Because secular kids are already edgy outcasts who have been shunned by the herd, in nature people like this rightfully die off, evolution is really something.
