Looks like your inaccurate generalized college numbers that are once again leaving out things you have to pay for. And try to fit everything to a non realistic bubble.
60 bucks for internet average tier internet, cable with most channels and phone in maryland? ...HAHA. There's no way in hell you're paying that little.
I've shopped around for years in this state, those numbers are just not possible with what you claim.
1k for a 1 bedroom apartment? what fantasy land is this?
call Comcast.... i'll take a pic of my bill lol. it's $59 + bullshit fees, so like $62.07
and yeah 1k for a 1 bedroom. A bunch of my co-workers in my Rockville, MD office live in Germantown, MD or up in Frederick, MD. Some may commute an hour each way, but hey it's Maryland. In the Midwest and the rest of the country, $1k for an apartment is overpay.

I didn't realize that just scraping by meant you were middle class.
/e and were I live a young college graduate isn't getting car insurance for less than $175
This is what is such bullshit. I am a young college graduate and I've had 1 at-fault accident and my car insurance is $493 semi annual.
how is $300 in loose cash each month barely scraping by? It's called, make it work for a year, get yourself a raise, then you'll have $400 a month in loose cash, then $500 a month, then $1000 a month when you get a promotion and start making $50k a year. Just be frugal.

I live in montgomery county and I couldn't find a 1 bedroom for under $1,200, and car insurance for my $2800 car was $200/month. I guess OP doesn't know about how cost of living changes in different areas.
I live in Moco myself m8 and I pay a fuck ton, but if I moved to Germantown, Damascus, or Montgomery Village it'd be easy living.
