Yes, sony hacked themselves despite the white house confirming it was NK already, released medical, personal and financial records of their employees, made 9/11 style threats against their own employees and movie theatres around the country, all the while still planning to release the movie up until said movie theatres said they weren't going to show it, forcing sony to pull the premiere. You guys are brilliant.

It keeps happening because there is no such thing as a secure system when it comes to hacking. These kind of hackers can hack into any system anywhere, the real challenge lies in not getting caught.

Every OS and every server software keep getting security holes plugged every week / month, especially because of the deeply insecure foundation of our computer systems. Every one of these bugs were privately known by some hackers far before they are fixed. The day we spend a tear without a security bugfix, it will be because either all the security holes are fixed, or because they give up.

Edit: also, firewalls and secure software doesn't protect against spear phishing
