I remember there was a girl and a boy in the book
he came from a poor background whereas she was upper tier rich

she lived in a mansion with who i believe was her grandmother

the girl basically is seen through the story giving her attention away to whomever passes but never pays attention or gives any notice to the boy she's around everyday
he ends up falling for her and i'm pretty sure she reciprocated but nothing happened between them

also i'm pretty sure the grandmother dies

also there may be a morphine addict in the story, unless im thinking of a different book.
