Youre right of course, initial data and unrepeated or theoretical tests were sure there.
I just looked up in my 4th grade science textbook and sure enough it states "Draw all of your conclusions on initial data sets and NEVER rerun a test beyond the first repeated circumstance"
youre still acting on nothing but confirmation bias and a TOLD U SO mentality
The measurements have been performed since the 70's.... 2004 was well after we knew global warming was a thing and that humans were the likely cause. I know most people are scientifically illiterate, and I've come to accept that.

...indeed , all that burning whale oil should have been a cause for concern
My bad, it was actually closer to 1820. We've known carbon dioxide is infrared active for over 200 years so burning coal during the industrial revolution leaving to an increased amount of trapped heat was common knowledge among the chemists/physicists at the time. It was a discussed topic but it was limited because we just didn't know much about the environment. The idea was that either humans would lead to an increased temperature, or the environment would have some yet undiscovered stabilizing mechanism to stop it from happening.
Dates are iffy, my memory isn't good at remembering specific years, but you get the idea. It was a discussion happening as a result of the industrial revolution pre 1900 just to give an idea of how old the discussion actually is.
