So I'm trying to get someone to read fire & ice, but I'm going to have to convince her using some cool excerpts that arent too revealing.
I'm thinking one could be Meera Reed telling Bran about the green knight. And Bran being Tyrion's Champion. Maybe Tyrion going through the sorrows without using his name.

You guys have any ideas?

Not looking for anything tv show related.

what does she like to read?

personally, i'm not a huge epic-fantasy reader. i tried reading game of thrones a while back, but i got 2 hours into it (1/20th of the way page-wise i guess?) and abandoned it. if she's not a huge fantasy reader either, i suggest she watch the tv show first to get an idea of whats going on.

if she does like reading fantasy, why isn't she reading it to begin with? she thinks it's too much action, too slow, not enough comedy, etc? that can help you pick excerpts for her.

LotR have been her favorite books. She just has a lot to read and not a lot of time, and hasn't seen to point in picking up a huge ass series that probs isnt going to get finished

its not that there only 7 books have you seen how big each book is? i got them all on audiobook. there between 24 hours to 48 hours long each book, its a good series but its long. kidna hard to say something that would help you get somebody to read it. its a typical medieval book where power means everything even if means to betray everybody along the way and literally stab them in the back doing it.

it's not dumb, just a different set or priorities. sometimes i just want to read for an hour, so i pick up a goosebumps book. dont really wanna take 30 weeks at an hour per to finish a book, and take years to finish a series.
