Dude, I sat and watched the four seasons before that, I dunno how I could be more open minded about it. He's obnoxiously smug in a way that his predecessors weren't, and Amy seems to be a paper-thin female character that's mostly around to have a crush on the Doctor and act in the dumbest manner possible. It's just been incredibly awful so far, and the fact that the next episode up for me appears to be a rip off of Turn Left doesn't bode well.

That's not remotely true, though. They tie him down to Earth, yes, but the hubris that the Doctor showed in the Waters of Mars is something that he knows better than to show. The Doctor Triumphant is wrong, and he knows it well enough.

I know there's a certain smugness, but it's supposed to be balanced with charm that isn't there. Smith strikes me as having the charm of a cult leader, with absolutely no actual concern for Amy or River or anyone else, from the way he plays it. He just gives me the creepy crawlies all over, and I can't wait to slog through these shitty episodes and get on with Capaldi. I saw the first Capaldi episode and he's much, much better.

Sure he's not suppose to be traveling through time cause Wibbily Wobbily Timey Wimy, etc. But there are some things the Doctor CAN'T help. Set points in time that can't be altered. So he doesn't do anything, he lets nature take it's course. If he got involved it would cause a paradox and eventually lead to the universe dying in some horrific way.

Capaldi is a good Doctor I like him alot. Certainly not better than Matt Smith though. The first episode with him doesn't even show what kind of Doctor he is. You think Matt Smith was much wait until you get to know Capaldi. He's basically a cunt lol.
