That's not remotely true, though. They tie him down to Earth, yes, but the hubris that the Doctor showed in the Waters of Mars is something that he knows better than to show. The Doctor Triumphant is wrong, and he knows it well enough.
I know there's a certain smugness, but it's supposed to be balanced with charm that isn't there. Smith strikes me as having the charm of a cult leader, with absolutely no actual concern for Amy or River or anyone else, from the way he plays it. He just gives me the creepy crawlies all over, and I can't wait to slog through these shitty episodes and get on with Capaldi. I saw the first Capaldi episode and he's much, much better.
UHHGGGGGGG!
He's not tied down to hear he just prefers it thererrrrrrrrr... Sure he's not suppose to be traveling through time cause Wibbily Wobbily Timey Wimy, etc. But there are some things the Doctor CAN'T help. Set points in time that can't be altered. So he doesn't do anything, he lets nature take it's course. If he got involved it would cause a paradox and eventually lead to the universe dying in some horrific way.
Capaldi is a good Doctor I like him alot. Certainly not better than Matt Smith though. The first episode with him doesn't even show what kind of Doctor he is. You think Matt Smith was much wait until you get to know Capaldi. He's basically a cunt lol.
