Basic, simple question. Decided to start a solo climb. As it's been a couple years since I played, aside from 2 group runs last night, what do I have to expect? Has soloing changed much, anything to avoid or look for, recommendations?

Still trying to remember how to play. Advice would be appreciated. Running sword Samurai with semi-tank armors, 55+ will be 20crit build. :)

Shrining is less effective then it used to be. The higher the difference between your level and the item level you shrine, the less effective it gets.
So regen gear has its uses again.

Its still viable, I solo most of the time.

Oh and there are more objectives you can complete solo than before.

What kind of more objectives? Maze I've done, pinch is currently enabled.

Also, started out the run by doing a map i got from group run last night, and question: There's no spins it seems, or trapdoors. But do you also not get monsters on already explored spaces? Curious for that before I use this embossed map thinggy I have. :)

Once a square on a map has been explored, it will not generate any more mobs :)

With your gear, probably just an easy ride to MQ :rofl:

If you do find yourself needing to regen at higher lvls, its nice to use the Extra spiders to heal. Just kill all but one (the copies do zero damage) and heal yourself.
Save whites for a Well that you may find in cata.
Just because skills are red, doesn't mean you can't put points into them (Didn't realize that for a few climbs :wallbash: )
If a EP spawns and you're hitting it for 0. Its Soften the Sneaky Shell. Just leave unless you have caster charm. (I forgot about that when I first came back)
I've always found Salvation a nice skill to have while soloing but you may not need it if you don't need to regen 1-71. (Or have a ton of shrines)

Focus on monsters with crappy abilities like freeze/paralyze (Peaktrice, mantaprey, peaktrice)

Other than that not much has changed really gameplay wise. Mechanics have changed with weapon ratios.

Been soloing on HC a lot lately, and its been a decent pace. I agree with others, regen gear has it's uses for sure. Shrines can get sparse at higher levels.

And yes, with your gear you should be just fine. B)

Read the description of level cap, and it indicates that the max level of both monsters and items can be raised by that much. Does that mean I could be facing level 25 monsters at level 1? o.O

Rawhide has max monster cap of 20, your map increases that by 22. The mobs will still be within range of your character, but instead of your exp capping out at lvl 20 mobs, you can climb that map a lot higher before you stop getting exp.



If that map had +Evil Presence, +Item drops/quality, etc, it would be really nice to farm.

no. but normally a tier1 map is capped at 15. means if you play the map the monsters have your lvl.. but once you are lvl 16.. the monsters stay lvl 15.. so you get less exp.. but if you have +5 lvl cap you will get up to lvl 20 monster

you be facing lvl 42 monsters if your level is higher then that.
