The launch of Desert Storm. I was really little and remember seeing video footage on T.V. I think it was Baghdad at night, but I'm not sure. It was footage coming in live through night vision. Tracer rounds and bombs covered the screen.

I didn't really understand what was happening, only that it was something bad.

Mine would be the 2000 election when I was in 3rd grade. My family is split roughly 50-50 and I remember lots of arguments, and I would say it is what got me interested in politics.

Do you think the events there affected your personal life directly?

Good stuff (at least if the arguments were constructive).

To be completely honest my life never really revolved around national or world events. I was so addicted to Pokemon, N64, and playing in soccer during summer/fall and then indoor Soccer. From the ages of 6-10 that's what I mainly remember. I remember the day well when i was in the 5th grade when 9/11 happened that people were freaking out and I wasn't completely sure how big it was. My parents were divorced and my dad was in the military so he didn't live near me for the first 11 years of my life. My life changed so much when I was able to see my dad regularly. It's good he was able to get stationed on a base near me too cause I would have probably turned out way worse without the positive role model my dad was for me from that point on.

Yeah, like I said before, not everyone's family is invested in politics.

Thanks for sharing though.

That was the first event that you remember? It's pretty crazy that your memory is that poor.

There are other events I remember but none that really affected me. I was too busy dealing with my shitty childhood to be interested in politics before I was 14.

Don't know, I'm mid 20's so some minor math would be required

Whatever age 5th graders are. I remember going home and having some vague fear about terrorists invading my neighborhood. Lol.
