I've had experiences with cops go both ways. I've had some really shitty situations with the police, and I've had other situations where they seemed to go above and beyond. It depends on the cop and it depends who is looking.

While I understand your viewpoint, I would also like to encourage you to envoke some sympathy in yourself as all parties in this affair experienced unpleasant experiences and blaming anyone does not work.

There is no reason for cops to escalate to physical force for someone that hasn't done, or could be reasonably sure it will escalate to that ( picks up a weapon )

That said...when dealing with what is essentially a giant guard dog without a brain of it's own...a giant bully

It's best not to poke the beast

Pulling his gun though is questionable. Mouthing off at a cop is not grounds to escalate matters into a gun being drawn.

Have you been around angry drunk people?

i was wearing a shirt too, getting coffee

I think Widow likes the shirt off story better....

This comes down to the whole escalation of violence theory and it's taught to every rookie policeman or woman. somehow the cop let a drunken albeit lippy college kid turn into a detainee with a sprained wrist and a semi dislocated shoulder in cuffs on the ground with the cop's gun drawn. Now the cop is the one in control of the "moment he has the weapons and the "law" on his side how does he let this situation dissolve to this point?

Luckily this was in the lobby of a hotel what could have happened at the side of a road somewhere?

he kept trying to get me to go outside and i refused, i told him to give me a reason for detaining me and i would cooporate, so he sat me down for about 2 hours and then his supervisor showed up, took him outside, came back and let me go
