He still should have rolled off MS; Vita is the lesser of the two evils and no one has any reason to rely on gear for MS ever in the long run.

No, he picked the right choice taking off MS. At higher Paragon levels, MS on gear is ALWAYS dead weight.

You would've ruined them if you did keep on the MS. Pretty much every high GRift DH using Lacunis rolls MS off anyway; you're did it right.

Lightning DH = 99% solo high level (40+) GRs.
Lightning DH = permanent Smoke Screen = invulnerable (nearly... some stuff still can hit & 1shot you)
VIT on lightning items = mostly useless, unless you play it for fun in t6.

Actual loss isn't that big, as you get 10% from ferret companion & 10-12% from boots (only dex/%ele arrow required).
Now you guys can proceed to kill each other. Have a nice evening.

Like you said, it's a Lightning DH item. Use your brain.

Let's put it another way. MS cap is 25%. If you're a Lightning DH, you're definitely using Marauders, which means you naturally have:

10 MS from Ferret
12 MS from Marauder Boots (Ideal is Dex/Res or Armor/Ele%/MS)

22/25 MS, finish off the rest with Paragon. That's 6 Paragon points, or 30 Dex you "miss." You're not missing out on anywhere near 120 Dex.

It's basically a battle between 4xx Vit or putting 30 more Dex into Paragon. Losing 30 Dex is not that big of a deal considering something as large as 400 Vit. In HC, you need this VIT, period. In SC, you can get 1-shotted in 4x+ GRifts, but NOT by everything. 400 Vit can make the difference between getting 1-shot or 2-shot by a number of things if you ever were to get a momentary lapse of Smoke Screen. And keep in mind, things that end up being invulnerable (such as a perfectly played perma Smoke Screen) get nerfed sooner or later.

With that in mind, sacrificing 30 Dex in the grand scheme of things is a better choice: relatively more nerf-proof and 4xx Vit is enough to make a difference between a 1-shot and 2-shot death in exchange for a very, very little damage decrease.

Like you said, it's best used on a Lightning DH, which means he already has the Ferret + Marauder boots on.

400 Vit has better utility than 30 Dex boost (it's not 120 Dex, it's only 30 Dex because of the M6 set).



That. 30 Dex is very, very small in terms of damage when the 4xx Vit can prevent a number of things from being a one-hit kill, especially if you've already minimized Vit on your other gear. Plus, everyone knows Blizzard likes to sooner-or-later nerf builds that can make death a rarity.

I have a similar pair though not as good and I chose to remove the MS as well. As others are saying, depending your boots, it's literally a 30 dex loss, which is not a noticeable amount at all. Also, there are some dots that's I've escaped and I've never finished a grift with .01 seconds to go because that's all 30 dex is going to save you

Come 2.1.2, unless the change is canceled, keeping Vita on these Lacunis is now the hands down better choice because perma Smoke Screen will no longer be possible.
