so you havent done any ab exercises for 3.5 years and eaten unhealthy in that timespan yet have abs?

that is correct.

I am blessed with good genetics in that regard. I've had visible abs since an age children shouldn't be able to have them.

quick update. deadlift is up to 3x8x275. I have been there for 2 week just to be sure on my form. This week I will be bumping it to 285.

Squat last week was 3x8x245 with a deep near atg squat. Before in January when it was 245 it wasn't nearly as deep so I dropped the weight back down to 225 and went deeper and started working my way back up.

255 will be attempted today. I'm finding I have the leg strength but the lungs are lacking when I go deep.

I am at 8x175x7x175x7x175 in bench now. Nearly up to 3x8x175 but not quite.

Diet seems to be lacking. Strength is improving, definition is improving as well while my weight essentially stays the same. I'm losing body fat while gaining muscle, but that is not my intention at this time. I just want to maximize my strength so I need to be eating more

previously injured hamstring is still getting stronger, which is great. my speed is coming back, but far from 100%

I have however skipped bis/tris the last few weeks and have also been skipping dedicated ab workouts for quite a while

Son of a bitch... pulled my other hamstring playing touch football tonight.

I guess deadlifts and squats are out of the question for this week. Maybe next week too

Gym progress has been going well too.

I took last week off from deadlifts and this week put up 3x8x285 no problem. warmed up with 135 for 8 and 225 for 8 and finished with 225 for 8 more after the 3 heavy sets
hit 3x8x255 squat last week and took this week off on the heavy stuff and did 5x8x225 squat in 8 minutes all in, so stamina is there along with the strength.

Bench is slow going though for some reason. Size is constantly improving but chest strength gains are going slow. They aren't responding well so something may need to change.
got 8x175x8x175x6x175 this week. once I hit a true 3x8x175 I may switch chest to a 5x5 or a 5x3 and see what happens.

And then of course tonight I pulled my damn hamstring. It's very clearly my biceps femoris (right leg) that's been strained. It's not the previously torn hamstring (left leg) thank god. Going to keep it loose and do stuff like go for walks to keep it mobile. Probably get a couple days of good rest first though. It's not bad, just sore and tight. Should be good to go @ 100% in a couple weeks. hopefully...
