Because things like sadism exist.

Use more specific examples, a situation, or something historical if needed.

Fun fact for those that care:

Sadists know what they do is good for them.
So are they knowingly committing evil, or are they just confusing it for good? Are they striving for good or not? Do they do these things for goodness or not?

Profit is the incentive that gets people to invest time and resources to create new and better things.

Remove profit --> remove new and better things.

Having new and better things should be the incentive to get new and better things

It should be, but that doesn't work. Humans aren't motivated to help everyone when the initial cost is much greater than the individual benefit they would receive.

Hence capitalism rewards them with profit as an incentive to continue producing.

We're in need of major shifts in thought and perspective

They would be rewarded, the reward is 'new and better things'
But yes, in the system we've created and accepted for ourselves, i get it. I'm not a fan of how we view it, but i get it.
