http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/15/politics/texas-voter-id-law/index.html

There are I believe 21 states with voter ID legislation still up in the air at this time, Texas as you can see just turned over a ruling made earlier this month the District court of Appeals turned over a ruling by A State Superior Court Justice putting a halt to the voter ID law. claiming that it was too close to the voting time to make a change now. I call that BS. and quite a bit of it..it is Texas after all. stopping the voter ID law requires nothing more of the polling judges or the voters, while re-instituting it puts many of the poorest voters at a severe disadvantage. I applaud Arkansas for their ending the ID demand. and Wisconsin. I think Gov. Walker has just about painted himself into a corner he won't get out of between attempting to get the voter ID law passed, and his mul headediness regarding the state minimum wage. but I may save that for another thread.

what are your thoughts on voter ID's and is this something that the Supreme Court should step in on?

I just find it hilarious that people oppose it. I also find it absolutely hilarious that so many people don't have an ID. Makes you wonder how they even exist in today's society.

i don't oppose it but republicans usually add all these rules/conditions to voting at the last minute in an attempt to prevent as many people as possible from voting which is just plain despicable

if it's as easy to obtain as you say it is and people were properly informed (something i don't trust republicans to do as their goals have nothing to do with preventing voter fraud) why would there be so many without id's and lower voter turnouts?

Free!! damn.. costs $5.00 here damn tightassed farmer republicans ;)

This was used as a direct answer to the Democrats very successful Get Out The Vote! it affects the poor and the minorities

those who don't have cars and don't need a drivers license it's going to cost not only for the license but for the state certified birth certificate as well and then for the copy.

this is and might as well be considered a poll tax.

Ours hasn't gone into effect yet only the free id portion is in effect. The requirement isnt until 2016.

From my recollection, places that have voter id laws, turn out is actually higher than previously, soooo.

There has been both internet and tv campaigns promoting the laws passage, and it is in numerous places at the local and state BOE level.

Its sort of hard to do a lot of shit without an ID, I'm seriously dumbfounded by how many people supposedly don't have them. I understand not having a BC if your house burnt down or something, but are there really that many people who never got a birth cert? I just can't imagine not having something proving who the hell I am, and where I came from.
