...taking the lead in confronting the Ebola crisis , Republicans are now calling for a temporary travel ban into the U.S.A. from nations with current outbreaks . I think this is not only a reasonable precaution but a brilliant political strategy , literally grabbing the leadership reigns out of Obama's hands . Well done fella's , well done .

If you want to believe Republicans whining about something equates to, "literally grabbing the leadership reigns out of Obama's hands", go right ahead.

I really doubt any kind of travel ban will be forthcoming either way.

This may create unintended side effects, and it shouldn't mean an end to aid to the region, but we do need to keep this out of North America.

Politically this could bite the Democrats if they refuse to act on it.

I think its a completely moronic idea.

I do however think the UN should set up testing facilities for everyone who wishes to leave those countries. So in order to fly out of there, you'd need to pass the test obviously. What is to stop those people that are infected to take a train to the next door country and fly to the USA from there?

Unintended side effects, I'm more concerned about this driving people into populated developing countries like India.

That said, its entirely reasonable to try and protect the United States from this. We still don't know where the virus is going to end up (evolutionarily), its an absurd risk to rely on our health-care system stopping it in its tracks.

Ok.. fly to mexico and drive across the border.

Or fly to the next door country, drive into the EBOLA affected areas, then drive back out =]

You'd be surprised what people would go thru if they think they would get better treatment in the US for example.

passports aren't only for flying, and they show all of the borders you've crossed, and when.

...it's also time to fire the head of the CDC . That second nurse infected from treating Duncan decided to take a little trip to my area and when she realized she was running a fever she called the CDC and they okay'ed her hopping on a flight home . You have got to be kidding me ! They're admission that they made a serious mistake is small comfort to those who were on that plane .
