The opposition to stem cell research looks at the same information you do, we just come to a different conclusion about the ethics of it.

The Catholic Church is against embryonic stem-cell research because it involves the destruction of human embryos. Pope John Paul II said embryonic stem-cell research is related to abortion, euthanasia and other attacks on innocent life.

this is the source of the opposition towards it in the states

all attempts at non religious arguments against it fail and circle back to the same religious stuff

superstition is one amongst many possible irrational sources of justification for opposition against things that help mankind

it just happens to be the most popular source of opposition so it seems like i'm singling it out
