Bill Maher is a hyperbolic reactionary. He's inkanddagger with a large audience.

You're giving Inky too much credit, Maher is a pretty brilliant comedy guy.

Ink isn't a strong leftist, he's a self-hating Democrat with a personality disorder, much like Vivienne.

Ben Affleck seems to be missing the point entirely. Harris says "People conflate the idea of attacking Islam with attacking Muslims as people" and then Affleck still thinks Harris is doing just that!

I'm in full agreement with Sam Harris.

Agreed. What I'm not clear on is what could or should be done about it.

We talk about Islam all the time. I don't understand your frustration. Is this thread about criticism of Islam, the specific argument between Maher and Affleck, or is it about Maher's job security?

This is all well and good but what about Islam?  What can be done about a huge religion that is anti freedom?

What you consider freedom is just Western culture.

Am I on the right track for discussion?

Right so lopping off someone's head who denounces their religion is not anti freedom it is anti western culture. Is this the liberal insanity taught in classrooms these days?

Watched it and was wholly unimpressed with both sides. Maher seems to say that Islam is bad and implies all practitioners of Islam are bad, then Ben tries to point out he's painting every person with the same brush. Maher totally misunderstands and thinks Ben is defending the idea of Islam when he clearly isn't and everything just goes fuck up.
