"A patient in a Dallas hospital has been confirmed to have the deadly Ebola virus, News 8 has learned.

That person has been held in "strict isolation" as he or she was evaluated for possible exposure to the virus.

This is the first case of Ebola confirmed in the United States."

Fantastic.

Nothing to worry about. The United States, just like the rest of the developed world, has the healthcare infrastructure capable of dealing with Ebola. It can't spread in the US like it can in less-developed African nations.

Still not good, but don't worry about millions of people being wiped out.

Basically this. Unless a small group of people decide to crap blood into a local water supply we're pretty much covered.

We've seen that even developing countries with better infrastructure are dealing with Ebola well. Ebola spread to Nigeria in July and they've only had 20 cases. As soon as it popped up they immediately put into practice measures to prevent it spreading. If a rich developing country can effectively cut off the disease from spreading rather easily, a developed country can do it too.

The only chance this gets really bad for us is if the disease mutates to being transmissible through the air. Which biologists believe to be extremely unlikely.

Agreed.

The media plays it up pretty heavy, that's the main issue. You'll get a lot of people freaking out.

Also, I'm 100% doing a pard fantasy hockey league this year. You gonna play?

Probably. I have less and less time to spend on the internet these days so I don't know how active I'd be.

Humble brag super cereal time. Less time on the Internet is a causally linked to more time spent managing my business and trying to break into real estate development.
