Found it.

Refer to section 3 for how to check what you paid for an item. I also feel this screen shows an items true stats, but I could be wrong.
If you self found an item, and it has never been sold, it will not have a history and this will not work.

Rex's post above me will work too. Seems a little oddly written, and he has me lost with using ctrl f... But he is correct too...

CTRL+F brings up the "Find" command, it will find that word or phrase on that page. Mind you I am using IE... so it could be different for Mozilla or
other browsers.

What's been failed to be mentioned here is why would you want to know the items true stats? It's a pointless piece of information that has no use.

What you fail to realize is that is irrelevant. Stay on topic please.

anyone looking at the item damage is surely going about trading the wrong way.

on topic:
does anyone use the grease monkey item id script still or am i the only one?

so that the id's show in the profile as links to the item pages
like this

Edit:

also any hardcore items the number at the end of the link needs to be a 1 not a 0

http://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/itemHistory.php?i=11749910&c=1

double edit:
i'll pm the big guy and ask if posting scripts is allowed
the site it was on no longer exists.

i understand that it makes no sense to look at the item dmg or def (like some of you wrote). just was afraid it could get me in trouble when posting a trade with "wrong" stats..

however, it seems to me that knowing how to find a "lost" item (or how to display the item id with a script) is always useful.
