It's still just potential though, rather than a perennial record of being great. MacK is going into the dreaded sophomore year on a team most people are expecting to have a relapse. Hertl played 39 games and his 4 goal night was 15% of his total production, which you can't count on happening.
Not saying either was a bad pick (mack may have slipped to 40 but idk your other draft folks so who knows) but it's always a risk to base an early pick on someone who had one good season and who you think has potential to do even better.
Great points on on mackinnon. Defn could of taken a safer pick. I believe hes gonna be a top 10 superstar in the next couple yrs so im hoping theres no regression.
