Looking for a book series that shows the characters development over years. Not book series based over afew months.

Books that are like this i have read

The night angel trilogy
Harry potter series
Eragon
Codex alera series

All those books are based over several years so you can see the characters grow throughout the series. I looking for more book series like this.

The Dresden Files, has ~ 14 books, each at least 1 year apart in the story, some several years. You end up seeing a lot of character development in the supporting characters, not just the main.
Also, it was written by the same guy who did Codex Alera.

thanks I downloaded them all. didn't look at any of this authors other book series. Codex Alera is by far my favorite trilogy aside from maybe eragon but think both tied for 1st. this series has a awesome character development in it. any other series like this?

i couldnt get into pillars of the earth personally, but my coworker recommended it. iirc he said it spans multiple generations.

not a series, but are you interested in 11-22-63? stephen king novel where a guy in modern times goes back in time to 1958, and you read about his life while he waits for 1963 so he can save kennedy.

Also, shortly after I read Codex Alera, I read a historical fiction series about Julius Caesar. It was 3 or 4 books spanning from his childhood to death, and was really good.
Brutus was in the story the entire time as well, and it was kind of insane seeing how he and Julius change over the years.

Forgot to include series title xD
First book is The Gates of Rome

Firefly Lane: A Novel
Written by: Kristin Hannah

Quote
Publisher's Summary

In the summer of 1974, Kate Mularkey has accepted her place at the bottom of the eighth-grade social food chain. Then, to her amazement, the "coolest girl in the world" moves in across the street and wants to be her friend.
Tully Hart seems to have it all: beauty, brains, ambition. On the surface, they are as opposite as two people can be: Kate, doomed to be forever uncool, with a loving family who mortifies her at every turn; Tully, steeped in glamour and mystery, but with a secret that is destroying her. They make a pact to be best friends forever; by summer's end they've become 'TullyandKate' -- inseparable.
So begins Kristin Hannah's magnificent novel. Spanning more than three decades and playing out across the ever-changing face of the Pacific Northwest, Firefly Lane is the poignant, powerful story of two women and the friendship that becomes the mainstay of their lives. For 30 years, Tully and Kate buoy each other through life, weathering the storms of friendship: jealousy, anger, hurt, resentment. They think they've survived it all, until a single act of betrayal tears them apart...and puts their courage and friendship to the ultimate test.
Firefly Lane is for anyone who ever drank Boone's Farm apple wine while listening to Abba or Fleetwood Mac. More than a coming-of-age novel, it's the story of a generation of women who were both blessed and cursed by choices. It's about promises and secrets and betrayals. And, ultimately, about the one person who really, truly knows you - and knows what has the power to hurt you...and heal you. Firefly Lane is a story you'll never forget...one you'll want to pass on to your best friend.

never read it, but you might wanna look into reviews.
