this war is worth fighting though

unlike that last one with saddam

if you'd left saddam alone probably wouldn't have to fight this one

US and allies are getting involved in another war with now real plan or end game strategy.

there never was one and never will be. The point is for these wars to continue indefinitely.

The cancer of radical Islam will not die in a generation, this will take decades.

ISIS was not a problem until we stopped doing our job. This is something we will have to do for generations.

What would you have us do realistically?

Libertarians have no answer aside put our heads in the sand. I wonder how much help humanitarian aid would be. Empower the people, ISIS has made literally everyone their enemy.

I think ISIS has succeeded in terrorizing everyone to the point that they are too scared to fight. But you're right about Libertarians...they are either selfish, cowardly, ignorant, or a combination of them.

Couldn't the same be said about us prior to the revolutionary war? If we can show the locals what it's like to live with order wouldn't they be willing to fight for it? I am not sure... It would be best if ISIS could be overthrown by the locals instead of us air striking the shit out of them. ISIS is just waiting for us to hit civilians.

i think its too hard for most people to relate to the mindset in middle eastern countries.

personally i don't know how people who lived that way for so long could know what "order" even is.

i honestly don't think the region will have any modern sense of order and stability for 1-2 more generations assuming other countries help them stay afloat that long.

tbh i think if you wanted to get down to it the only way to help those countries would be to kill of 80% of the adult population so the children can know something other than the hardships that shaped the previous generations.

Our job is not to police the whole world.

We are NOT going to win an ideological war by bombing people en masse. We do not have the wherewithal nor the mandate to do what would be necessary to secure a lasting peace in the Middle East. They're going to have to tire themselves out killing each other.

The current proposals call for aimless perpetual war, war at great cost to ourselves for no reasonably good outcome, yet we're the ones with our heads in the sand? LOL! You (and TC) have no idea what to do, but you're definitely gonna make sure to indiscriminately kill untold numbers of people to do it.

ISIS hasn't scared me in the slightest. They have no reach here, they are no credible threat to us. If they were, that actual threat can be dealt with, and harshly. Don't you dare presume that isolationism is the same thing as pacifism.

Military Planes were flyning in and out of St. John's Intl Airport all night. Wondering if it's related.
