The problem with the idea of leaving Saddam alone is that Western powers have intentionally fucked up the Middle East by trying to prevent a Caliphate like the Ottoman Empire. Do they condone petty dictators over self determination? Unfortunately yes.

ISIS wants this fight Santara, and they've got to go.

Regardless of what has led up to now, this is where we are at.

Kill ISIS, knock down Assad, most problems in region are addressed.

We can kill some leadership types and a bunch of zealots, sure. More will come, especially in the power vacuum sure to follow in Syria. I hear we have al Quada "on the ropes." What did that get us? ISIS.

ISIS was not a problem until we stopped doing our job. This is something we will have to do for generations.
