i see 3 categories. Developed countries gives few importance, colonized developed countries gives moderate importance, undeveloped countries give big importance to religion.

it's just the undeveloped brains in the states that give big importance to religion

i have some suspects:

- low educations quality: people are too specialized, uninformed, or even worse: missinformed.
- low social help/structure: people are then much more involved in religious communities, helping each others, some kind of communautarism at local level.
- the excessive rise of those "new" churches (we dont have those in Euro) in a country wheres religion is a business, like healthcare.
- politics arent helping at all

I feel personally responsible for keeping this thread going... and sharing the truth about the universe.

Many of the founding fathers of the US were Christians. They all at least came from the same religious background. Many of the colonist also had the same religious views. Christian ideology can be found everywhere in US law. The US constitution also actively protects peoples right to practice religion. Now consider the US has only really been a country for about 230 years. That's not very much time for change of this scale. Change is occurring though.
