In a way

but

they do have to pay staff , cleaners , web designers and administration.

Plus im sure that any extra money made is going to firefighters or hospitals or some good cause.

and i'm not sure that they're going to have Policemen enforcing the ticket fare , but rather a "suggested Donation" amount?

OP is talking about the Museum, not the Memorial.

Ah.

I really don't see a problem with it. Like Card_Sultan said, the government is not going to be making a profit on the fees, and it keeps the hoodrats out.

You understand that the same people would still pay for it, right?

Ya forgot the most important part of their website

9/11 Family Members Free
Museum Members Free with valid membership
9/11 Rescue and Recovery Workers Free with registration
Active/Retired U.S. Military Free with valid ID

Way to nitpick and not look at it in context.

Oh:

Free Admission Tuesdays
Admission is free for all visitors on Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to close, with the last entry at 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets are available for online reservation two weeks in advance of each Tuesday evening starting at 9 a.m. Same day tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket windows starting at 4:30 p.m. For tickets, please click here.

Definitely commercialization.
