And what problems do you think scientism has?
I would say that the scientific method can be applied to just about anything and will eventually yield the best possible explanation for whatever phenomena it is applied to. It is as close to actual knowledge and truth as we will ever get. What other method is there? Speculation? Hearsay?
I personally would like to see a whole liberal arts curriculum be implemented in high school. At least what is considered an associates level of knowledge (2 yr college) including introduction to philosophy and critical thinking. Anything taken like political science, psychology, economics, sociology, in high school is usually a joke. Two semesters of biology. Math programs seem on point, but that is probably because they are run by math teachers who are generally smart individuals, even if some of them can't teach worth a shit.
But there is no reason that high schools can't graduate people with enough general education to go into college at a junior level. Public school systems have an imperative to do it because it would be in their rational best interest in the long term. The biggest resistance would be the college and book publishing industries who might be able to wag the dog enough to stop any comprehensive reform. What those two industries are doing is criminal.
